With CES all set to begin from next week, most of the smaller OEMs have started announcing their new Android powered smartphones and tablets. Starting off the announcement train is the Chinese OEM, ZTE, with a bunch of new Android powered devices, with names that are similar to some of the flagship handsets from different OEMs.

The first in the line is the second generation of ZTE’s flagship handset — the Grand S II (No, not the Galaxy S II). While the handset retains the same name as its predecessor, there are a lot of new features onboard including a Moto X like intelligent voice control and command technology. The handset will also sport three microphones for better noise reduction and to allow for more clearer and natural voice calls.

“ZTE has been developing a portfolio of fantastic consumer electronics on top of the smartphones for which we’ve become well known,” said Mr. Zeng Xuezhong, ZTE EVP and Head of the Mobile Devices Division. “This year, we will be focusing on pairing unique designs with unparalleled technology in order to offer customers the best possible experience at an affordable price.”

Below the Grand S II are the nubia 5s and 5s mini (rings a fruit, doesn’t it?), which are powered by a quad-core processor from Qualcomm. While the nubia 5s sports a 5-inch 1080p panel from Sharp, the 5s mini features a 4.7-inch IGZO display. The former also sports a 13MP F/2.0 camera with the ability to record videos in 4k resolution.

Lastly, ZTE will be bringing in a low-cost 4G enabled smartphone to the market, in partnership with Aio Wireless — the ZTE Sonata 4G. The handset will be powered by a 1.4GHz Snapdragon 400 processor and pack 1GB of RAM, a 4-inch display and a 5MP camera with flash.

On the phablet side, ZTE has unveiled the Iconic Phablet that features a quad-core processor and a 5.7-inch 1080p display. The phablet will come with smart viewer that allows for two applications to be simultaneously displayed on their screen similar to Samsung’s Multi-Window mode.

Finally, ZTE also unveiled its first smart watch — the BlueWatch — that features a built-in pedometer and can also pair with your smartphone to provide important notifications.

More information about the specs, price and availability of the devices will be announced at CES.
