Amazon and Google buried the hatchet earlier this year. Until recently Amazon Prime was blocked on Chromecast while YouTube app was not available on FireTV. Furthermore, Amazon also barred Google from selling Chromecasts on its ecommerce platform. As agreed earlier this year, YouTube TV is now available on Amazon Fire TV devices.

YouTube TV offers 70 channels and unlimited cloud-based digital video recording. YouTube TV supports up to three screens. If you happen to own an Amazon TV Fire Stick then download the YouTube TV app from here.

With YouTube TV you get 70+ channels, from local networks like ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC and popular cable networks like Discovery, TNT, CNN, ESPN, FX, and on-demand programming. YouTube TV also has unlimited cloud DVR storage space and you can have six accounts per household, so each member of the family can have their personal DVR and personalized recommendations.

As far as support is concerned, the YouTube TV app is available on Fire TV Stick (2nd Gen), Fire TV Stick 4K, all-new Fire TV Cube, all Toshiba, Insignia, Element, and Westinghouse Fire TV Edition smart TVs and previous generation Fire TV devices including Fire TV Cube (1st Gen), Fire TV (2nd Gen), Fire TV (3rd Gen — Pendant Design).

    Our Take

More than often, bitter rivalry between companies like Amazon and Google negatively affect the customers. This is especially the case when each one of them tries to block their ecosystem and forcibly tie down the users to the same. It is good that Amazon and Google have reached an agreement and we only hope that other companies follow suit.
