Google Pay

Google is adding a shortcut for Google Pay Send within Google Contacts. This change is part of the version 2.5 update and will be rolling out automatically without requiring a specific app update.

Using this feature, users will be able to send money to their friends and family directly from the stock Contacts application. The UI is the same as the one that appears within Android Messages, so the integration is pretty neat and familiar to existing users.

As of now, Google Contacts doesn’t appear to have an option to request money and the functionality is only limited to sending money to your contacts.

Google recently made a few changes to the names of its payments services, with Android Pay now known as Google Pay, while Google Wallet was rebranded as “Google Pay Send”. This new feature within the stock Contacts app bridges the gap between the two and offers a convenient solution to the customers.

Using the feature is pretty simple. When you tap on a contact, you will see a dedicated “Send” button accompanied by a “$” sign to make payments to that particular contact. Once you tap this button, you simply have to enter the amount that you wish to pay and confirm the payment. It works seamlessly and doesn’t take a lot of time or effort, which makes this a handy feature to have for Google Pay users.

Google Pay is only available in a handful of countries including the U.S., UK, Australia, Russia, Japan, Singapore and several others.

What do you make of this feature? Would this make you use Google Pay more often? Let us know.
