Less than a year ago, the official Flickr app for Android and iOS received a major update that brought with it a new UI and features. Today, Yahoo is once again giving the Flickr client for Android and iOS a major revamp that puts it in direct competition with other image sharing services like Instagram.

The new Android version of the app feels much more fluid, cohesive and easier to use than the previous on. It also somewhat follows the Holo guidelines, further giving it a polished feel. The main timeline of the app looks absolutely stunning and so does the EXIF details page.

On the features side, Yahoo has revamped the camera mode with a much simpler interface that allows for applying 14 different filters in realtime. It has also added image editing features like brightness, contrast, white balance and more. Another notable addition is the ability to upload all your current and future camera snaps to Flickr in the background. The new Search option on the top of the feed is smarter than ever and can even recognize objects in your images.
