Carriers in the United States are notorious for throttling the 3G/LTE connection of the end user when they detect any kind of tethering (mobile hotspot) activity from their phone. Usually, they monitor such activity by specifying another APN for tethering or by putting a software restriction directly in the carrier-locked phones they sell.
A similar restriction is imposed by Verizon, AT&T and Sprint on the Moto X, where they throttle or completely block any kind of data activity via tethering. Now, thanks to an Xposed module from dymmeh, Moto X owners can enjoy native tethering without using any third-party apps or other hacks.
Keep in mind that the module has only been tested to work on the Moto X running Android 4.4 KitKat but it might just work on Android 4.3 based builds as well. Head over to this XDA thread to download the Xposed module. Activate it, reboot your device and then you can use the inbuilt tethering feature of Android without any issues.
