The developer of Xposed today teased the impending launch of an upcoming version of framework that will work under Android 5.0 Lollipop/ART.

Xposed is easily among the most powerful mods available for Android devices out there. The framework allows you to enhance or add new features to the system by simply installing various modules for it, without getting into the hassle of flashing any custom ROM on your Android device.

However, the framework was incompatible with ART and since Google made it the default runtime in Lollipop, the framework did not work with the latest version of Android as well. Getting the framework to work under ART required significant effort and hacks, and even then it was unclear if the framework would play nice with the new runtime. To make matters worse, developer rovo89 did not have enough motivation and time to work on the project, which put the future of the framework in jeopardy.

Thankfully though, developer rovo89 has been silently working on bringing Xposed to Lollipop. He posted a small teaser on XDA today to confirm that the framework is “working very well” on ART and Lollipop and should be released “soon.”

It is very well possible though that the developer had to make some major changes to how Xposed works and its installation procedure to get it working on ART. Nevertheless, Xposed working under ART and Lollipop is going to bring music to the ears of a lot of Android users who are still on KitKat because of the framework being incompatible with the latest version of Android.
