Users of the Sony Xperia Z2 and the Z2 Tablet are now seeing a minor update that changes the firmware version to 17.1.1.A.0.402. Unfortunately, Sony hasn’t published the official changelog yet, so we’re still not sure if the update has any significant improvements.
But it’s clear that the update comes with the customary bug fixes we expect from new firmwares. Updates are rolling out to all variants of both devices and that includes the WiFi only Xperia Z2 Tablet as well, so make sure you’re on the look out if you own either of these two devices.
The Xperia Z2 was believed to be suffering from an overheating issue while recording 4K videos, so it’s possible that this update finally brings a fix to that issue. Early adopters are hinting that the update increases touch sensitivity as well, although Sony is yet to confirm this.
We will keep an eye on Sony’s support pages to see if we can get a detailed changelog and in the meantime, make sure you let us know if you receive the update on your Xperia Z2 or the Xperia Z2 Tablet and what changes you notice.
