Xiaomi today unveiled the 5G variant of the Mi Mix 3 for the European market alongside the global variant of the Mi 9. The company showcased the phone’s 5G capabilities by making a 5G video call on stage at its press event on Orange’s network.
The design of the Mi Mix 3 5G remains the same as the original Mi Mix 3 which Xiaomi launched last year. This means it has a bezel-less 6.39-inch FHD+ AMOLED display up front, 4-sided curved ceramic body, and a magnetic slider design. To support 5G though, Xiaomi has swapped the internals with a more powerful 7nm Snapdragon 855 chip and an X50 modem. Apart from the performance improvement brought about by the faster chipset, the 5G modem is capable of reaching speeds of 2Gbps+.
Other specs of the Mi Mix 3 5G include a 12MP primary shooter along with a 12MP telephoto sensor. The camera is capable of recording videos in 960fps and also features a dedicated Night mode for improved low-light photography. At the front, there’s a 24MP primary plus a 2MP depth camera. Other specs include a dedicated Google Assistant button and a 3800mAh battery with fast charging.
The Mi Mix 3 5G will be available in Spain and other parts of Europe for 599€.
Xiaomi also unveiled the global variant of the Mi 9 at the event. The company had first unveiled this phone in China last week. The specs and features of the handset remain the same. This means we are looking at a 6.4-inch waterdrop notch FHD+ AMOLED display, a 7nm Snapdragon 855 chipset, in-display fingerprint scanner, dual-camera setup at the rear which includes a 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor and a 12MP telephoto shooter, a 20MP selfie camera, and a 3300mAh battery.
The Mi 9 packs 27W fast wired charging and its the world’s first smartphone to feature 20W wireless charging. Featuring Gorilla Glass 6 panel at the front and strengthened glass at the rear, the Mi 9 features dual nano-level coating at the rear, a halo ring accent, along with a sapphire camera cover.
The Mi 9 will be available in Spain and other parts of Europe for 449€.
