Xiaomi Mi 5s AnTuTu benchmarks

What better way to tease a powerful new smartphone than by showing off its impressive benchmark results? That’s exactly what Xiaomi just did to tease the upcoming Mi 5s, which achieves a respectable 164,119 points on AnTuTu.

The Mi 5s is expected to make its official debut on September 27, and it could be one of the world’s first smartphones powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 821 processor. The device is also rumored to feature 6GB of RAM, and up to 128GB of internal storage.

Other features could include an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, and a pressure-sensitive display just like the iPhone’s, which would allow users to perform new actions and gestures by pressing the display with some force, as opposed to just tapping it.

According to benchmarks posted by Xiaomi, the Mi 5s achieves an AnTuTu score of 164,119. That makes it faster than rival flagships like the Galaxy S7 and the HTC 10 — at least in AnTuTu tests — though it still falls well short of the 178,392 points scored by the new iPhone 7.

It’s worth noting that benchmarks aren’t an accurate representation of real-world performance. Just because a device achieves a high score in an app like AnTuTu, it doesn’t mean it will offer the smoothest experience. Nevertheless, a high score certainly helps.

It looks like the Mi 5s will be a smartphone well worth looking forward to, then — especially if it is as cheap as $300, which is what recent rumors have claimed. We should find out more in less than a week.
