Xiaomi’s new Redmi Note 2 phablet is already off to a promising start in China after more than 800,000 pre-orders were secured in just 12 hours. Fans will now have to wait until Monday, August 24, for their next opportunity to order the device.

Just like its predecessor, the Redmi Note 2 combines decent specifications and attractive design with an affordable price tag. In addition to an octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 processor, the device boasts 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, dual SIM card slots, and a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera.

It’s also Xiaomi’s first handset to launch with MIUI 7, the company’s next-generation software.

Thanks to all these things, the Redmi Note 2 has been well received by Xiaomi fans in China. During its first flash sale, 800,000 handsets were pre-ordered in just 24 hours, which is a new record for domestic smartphone sales, Xiaomi says.
