Alongside the Redmi Y1, Xiaomi also launched the Y1 Lite — a ‘lighter’ version of the Redmi Y1 with a lower price tag. Despite the lower price tag, the Y1 Lite comes with a 5.5-inch HD display which is a rarity for smartphones in this price range.
The Y1 Lite is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 425 chipset clocked at 1.4GHz and will feature 2GB RAM and 16GB storage. The Y1 Lite also sports the same 13MP f/2.2 shooter as its bigger brother. At the front though, the Y1 Lite comes with a 5MP selfie shooter without any LED flash. It does come with Beautify 2.0 to help spice up your selfies.
Despite its low price tag, the Y1 Lite comes with a metal unibody build.
Other specs of the Redmi Y1 Lite include dual-SIM connectivity, a dedicated microSD card slot, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, and the usual bunch of sensors. The device is also powered by a 3080mAh battery. Like the Redmi Y1, the Redmi Y1 Lite launches with MIUI 8.5 but MIUI 9 will be available for download for the device in mid-November.
The Redmi Y1 Lite will also go on sale from November 8 on Amazon India and Mi.com. It will be available for Rs 6,999. It will be available in Gold and Grey colors.
