Xiaomi today unveiled the Redmi Note 4 in China, successor to its popular Redmi Note 3. The handset packs in largely the same specs as its predecessor but now comes in a more refined and sleek design.
The sleeker looking handset now houses a bottom facing speaker with chamfered edges giving it a more premium look and feel. Like the Note 3, the Redmi Note 4 houses a 5.5-inch Full HD display at the front with capacitive navigation keys below it. The rear of the phone houses a 13MP Sony shooter with f/2.0 aperture and PDAF, dual-LED flash, and a fingerprint sensor.
Inside the Redmi Note 4 is MediaTek’s deca-core Helio X20 chipset that comprises of 2x Cortex-A72 cores clocked at 2.1GHz, and 8x Cortex-A53 cores. Other specs of the handset include dual-SIM connectivity, 16/64GB storage space, hybrid microSD card slot, 3GB RAM, and a massive 4100mAh battery.
The Redmi Note 4 goes on sale in China from August 26 at RMB899 for the 16GB variant, with the 64GB variant being priced at RMB1,199.
The Redmi Note 3 turned out to be hugely popular for Xiaomi in India where it managed to sell 880k units of the handset in a single quarter. It is unlikely that we will see Xiaomi launch the Redmi Note 4 in India anytime soon, since its predecessor continues selling like hot cakes in the country.
