Xiaomi has issued invites for a press event on October 19, during which the company is expected to announce its new Mi 5 smartphone. The device will reportedly to be a huge improvement over last year’s Mi 4.
Although the Mi 5 isn’t guaranteed, we’ve been hearing about it a lot in recent months, so its official debut has been looking imminent for some time. Recent reports have claimed the device will be powered by a MediaTek Helio X20 chipset, the world’s first deca-core chip.
Other specifications are expected to include a Quad HD display between 5 and 5.3 inches in size, a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera, 4GB of RAM, and Qualcomm’s ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. The device could also have a metallic form factor.
The Mi 5 will reportedly cost around 1,999 Chinese yuan ($316), which is how much the Mi 4 was priced at when it made its debut. That would make the Mi 5 another incredibly affordable Xiaomi device with cutting-edge specifications.
