At an event in China today, Xiaomi launched the Mi Note 2. Taglined ‘Curved to Impress’, the handset comes with a 5.7-inch curved AMOLED display with a 77.2% screen-to-body ratio. The display comes with Sunlight Display Pro to enhance sunlight eligibility and Reading Mode to reduce strain on your eyes.

Inside the Mi Note 2 is Qualcomm’s ‘performance edition’ Snapdragon 821 chipset clocked at 2.35GHz and  Adreno 530 GPU. Xiaomi will be offering the Mi Note 2 in various storage and RAM configurations, with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The handset is powered by a 4070mAh battery, which also supports Quick Charge 3.0. Other key features of the Mi Note 2 include HD audio quality thanks to an AQSTIC audio processor, a high precision GPS chip, NFC with support for Mi Pay, and global LTE band support with support for 37 LTE bands and download speed of up to 600Mbps.

The rear of the Mi Note 2 features a 22.56MP Sony IMX318 sensor with EIS support even while recording 4K videos. This is paired with a dual-LED flash. At the front, the camera comes with 8MP shooter with autofocus. On the software front, the Mi Note 2 runs on MIUI 8. The handset has been priced at RMB 2799 for the 4GB/64GB storage, with the 6GB/128GB variant being priced at RMB 3299. The global version of the phone with 6GB RAM/128GB storage is priced at RMB 3499. The handset will be available in Piano Black and Glacial Silver.

If you have been missing the Galaxy Note 7, the Mi Note 2 seems to be its perfect replacement. Yes, it lacks the S-Pen, but it comes with a bigger battery and looks just as beautiful as the Note 7.
