After launching the Redmi Note 3 and the Mi 5, Xiaomi is all set to launch another new device: the Xiaomi Mi Max. The phablet, whose front panel had leaked previously, will reportedly feature a gigantic 6.4-inch display.
The company has now revealed on Weibo, China’s own Twitter, that it will be revealing the Max to the public on May 10th at an event in Beijing. Alongside the handset, the company will also be releasing MIUI 8, the latest version of its popular custom ROM that has nearly 200 million users worldwide.
Not much is known about MIUI 8, but Xiaomi did post a video on YouTube that shows the new notification shade of the OS in action. The notification shade in MIUI 7 remains one of its weakest points, so it is great to see Xiaomi address that in the next version of the OS.
Xiaomi will also be unveiling the Mi Band 2 at the event, which was accidentally shown by the company’s CEO during a live broadcast earlier today. Unlike the Mi Band and the Mi Band 1S, the Mi Band 2 will feature an LCD screen that will make it possible to check your step count or notifications without waking up your smartphone.
What do you think about Mi Max? Are you interested in a device with a 6.4-inch screen? What features do you expect Xiaomi to include in MIUI 8?
