Xiaomi today launched the Mi Max in India — almost two months after the handset first went on sale in India. The device features a gargantuan 6.44-inch display pushing it into the ‘phablet’ category.
The 6.44-inch display features a 1080p display and is packed inside a 7.5mm thin aluminium body that ensures the device is easy to use and carry. Xiaomi will be offering the Mi Max in two storage and RAM variants in India. The base model will feature 3GB RAM, 32GB of storage space, and will be powered by a hexa-core Snapdragon 650 chipset. The higher end variant will come with 4GB RAM, 128GB storage space, and a more powerful Snapdragon 652 chipset.

Other specs of the handset include 16MP PDAF shooter at the rear, a 5MP wide-angle shooter at the front, a fingerprint scanner at the rear, hybrid SIM card slot with a microSD card slot, and LTE support. The device is powered by a 4850mAh battery that should ensure the device lasts a day of heavy usage easily.
The Indian variant of the Mi Max will run on MIUI 7 out of the box and will receive the MIUI 8 update at a future date, though the MIUI 7 build is based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The device will also come with Hungama’s app pre-loaded with three-month of subscription free.
Xiaomi will be selling the 3GB RAM variant of the Mi Max in India for Rs. 14,999, while the 4GB/128GB variant will be sold for Rs. 19,999.
