Xiaomi is known for disrupting the smartphone space with affordable devices and class-leading specs. Today the company has announced its upcoming wireless charging technology called “Mi Charge Turbo.” The unique aspect is that Mi Charge Turbo supports a rather high charging wattage of 30W.

Xiaomi posted the details on Weibo and has revealed the core technology. To begin with, the Mi Charge Turbo is capable of charging a 4,000mAh battery from 0-100 in 70 minutes. As expected the charging rate is faster than 20W and 27W chargers. Behind the scenes, Xiaomi is using 5-layer nanocrystal receiver that offers a staggering conversion efficiency of 98 percent while keeping the temperatures under the tab.

The company also announced that it is working on a 40W wireless charging standard and is testing the same. Xiaomi is yet to announce the timeline or pricing details for Mi Charge Turbo. However, the company has confirmed that 30W Mi Charge Turbo will mark its debut alongside the Mi 9 Pro 5G which is expected to launch this month. It is still not clear whether or not Xiaomi will bundle the 30W charger or it expects customers to buy it separately.

Furthermore, the Weibo post also reveals that Xiaomi is going to launch new accessories with the Mi 9 Pro 5G. It is quite likely that the 30W wireless charging pad is going to be one of them. The charger comes in the form of a stand with the charging coil at the bottom. Meanwhile, it is worth noting that Mi 9 Pro 5G will support reverse charging. Interestingly the charging pad also comes with a clock placed alongside the charge level indicator.
