Mi 6 Xiaomi

Xiaomi today launched its latest flagship handset in China: the Mi 6. Powered by Qualcomm’s latest and greatest Snapdragon 835 chipsets, the handset features a four-sided 3D glass design with glossy stainless steel chassis.

Xiaomi boasts about the symmetrical design of the handset, with the speakers, volume buttons, SIM card slot, and the USB-C port all have a uniform alignment and are in symmetry to each other. There is a dual camera setup at the rear of the device that is completely flat and leaves no ugly bumps. It also features stereo speakers at the front. Perhaps the most disappointing part of the Mi 6 design is that it lacks a 3.5mm audio jack — a move that is likely going to disappoint a lot of Chinese users.

The front of the Mi 6 features a 5.15-inch Full HD display, with the fingerprint sensor located below the display cover glass similar to the Mi 5s. The display is capable of reaching brightness level of upwards of 600+ nits, with the minimum brightness level going as low as 1nit. It comes with Xiaomi’s usual array of features like Sunlight Display, Reading Mode, and reduces blue light glare.

The design of the handset is pretty attractive, though it does look a bit similar to the Honor 8. Apart from blue, Xiaomi will also offer the Mi 6 in silver with a mirror-like finish.

Under the hood, the Mi 6 comes with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 chipset clocked at 2.35GHz, an Adreno 540 GPU, and up to 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM. All this is powered by a 3350mAh battery, with Quick Charge 4.0 support.

The dual rear camera features a primary 12MP wide angle lens and a secondary 12MP telephoto lens that allows the handset to offer 2x optical zoom similar to the iPhone 7 Plus.

In addition, Xiaomi also announced a Ceramic edition of the Mi 6 that is scratch and wear resistant, with a hardness of 8 mohs. It also features 18K gold camera rims.

Xiaomi MI 6 will go on sale in China from April 28th, with the 6GB + 64GB version being priced at RMB 2,499 and the 6GB + 128GB version being priced at RMB 2,899.
