Xiaomi today released its third smartphone in India — the Redmi Note. The handset will be available in single and dual-SIM variants in India from December 2nd on Flipkart.
The front of the Redmi Note is adored with a 5.5-inch 720p display and a 5MP front facing camera. Other notable specs include 8GB of internal memory, a microSD card slot, 13MP rear camera, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and a 3100mAh battery.
The single SIM variant is powered by an octa-core MeditaTek SoC (MT6592) running at 1.7GHz, while the dual-SIM variant is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.6GHz. The latter also supports the nascent LTE network in India and runs on KitKat, while the dual-SIM version still runs on Jelly Bean.
The 3G dual-SIM variant of the Redmi Note will retail for Rs. 8,999, with the 4G variant coming in at Rs. 9,999. The handsets will be available for sale on Flipkart from 2nd December with pre-registration starting from November 25th itself. Additionally, the 4G variant of the Redmi Note will also be available through retail stores of AirTel in six regions across India. Xiaomi is also bundling a free screen guard and SIM card converter for the initial batch of customers.
