After much rumors, Xiaomi today unveiled its first laptop: the Mi Notebook Air. The 14.8mm thin notebook sports a 13.3-inch display and is 13 percent thinner than Apple’s MacBook Air.
The laptop features a Full HD display with edge-to-edge glass protection and thin 5.59mm thin bezels. The full metal body of the Mi Notebook Air has gone through the Borax anodized process with an even, uniform coloring. The full-sized keyboard on the laptop has a 1.3mm keystroke and backlit keys. The 1.28kg laptop also features an HDMI port, 2 x USB 3.0 port, and a USB Type-C port.
The laptop comes with a dedicated GeForce 940MX GPU that supports DirectX 12, PhysX, and Boost 2.0 gaming effects.
Powered by a 6th generation dual-core Intel Core i5 processor that can clock at up to 2.7GHz, the Mi Notebook Air features 8GB of DDR4 RAM running at 2133MHz. The notebook comes with 256GB of PCIe-based SSD that is capable of reaching transfer speeds of up to 1500MB/sec. There is also an expandable SSD slot on the laptop to increase its storage capacity.
The laptop runs on Windows 10 Home edition, features Mi Cloud Sync, and can also be unlocked using the Mi Band 2.
The company also launched a 12.5-inch variant of the Notebook Air that weighs only 1.07kg and lasts up to 11.5 hours on a single charge. The 12.9mm thin laptop comes with slightly toned down specifications which includes an Intel Core m3 processor, 4GB RAM, 128GB SSD with an expansion slot, and runs on Windows 10.
The 13.3-inch Mi Notebook Air is priced at RMB 4999, with the 12.5-inch variant being priced at RMB 3499. They will go on sale through Mi.com and Mi Home from August 2nd.
