Xiaomi today launched its latest and costliest flagship ever — the Mi Note Pro — in China. The company had initially announced the handset at the beginning of this year.

The Mi Note Pro comes with a 5.7-inch Quad HD display with a 1400:1 contrast ratio and a 95% NTSC color gamut. Under the hood, the handset is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 chipset, which Xiaomi says does not overheat even after 20 minutes of gaming thanks to the new thermal technologies the company has used in the phone.

Other specs of the device include 4GB RAM, 64GB of storage space, LTE Cat. 9 support and a 3090mAh sealed battery. There is a 13MP camera on the rear of the handset with an f/2.0 aperture and a 6-element lens. The camera features a smart multi-frame noise reduction technology for better low-light images, and is aided by a two-tone flash from Philips. As for the front, Xiaomi has used a 4MP ‘UltraPixel’ camera with 2.0 pixel size.

On the software side, the handset will be running on MIUI v6 based on Android 5.0 Lollipop. It is the first handset that Xiaomi will be selling in China to run on Android 5.0 Lollipop. Aesthetically though, MIUI looks largely the same as it looked while it was based on Android 4.4.

The Mi Note Pro will be going on sale in China from May 12 for RMB 2,999. The company did not announce as to when the handset will be making its way to other markets of the world.
