Redmi Go Black 3Xiaomi today announced its latest Redmi handset for India, the Redmi Go. Unlike other Redmi devices from Xiaomi, the Redmi Go is an Android Go handset that is aimed at the ultra-low budget segment.

The Redmi Go is powered by a Snapdragon 425 processor. It packs a mere 1GB RAM along with 8GB of internal storage. At the front, the handset features a 5-inch 720p display. Other specs of the Redmi Go include an 8MP rear camera with Full HD video recording, 5MP front camera, dual-SIM slots, microSD card slot, 4G LTE with VoLTE support, and a 3,000mAh battery.

Being an Android Go handset, the Redmi Go runs on Android Oreo (Go edition). This means users will gain access to ‘lite’ version of Google apps on the phone which offers almost the same functionality as the full version albeit with a few compromises.

The Redmi Go will be available in Black and Blue colors for Rs 4,499. It will go on sale on Flipkart, Mi.com, and Mi Home stores from March 22.

The Redmi Go is the cheapest handset sold by Xiaomi in India. Up until now, it was the company’s Redmi 6A which had that title. The Redmi 6A is Rs 1,500 more expensive than the Redmi Go but packs vastly better specs including a 5.45-inch display, a 13MP camera, and a more powerful MediaTek Helio A22 chipset. It also comes with face unlocked, 2GB RAM, and runs a full-blown version of Android Oreo with MIUI 10 on top, unlike the Redmi Go.
