WhatsApp will soon untangle the mess of group conversations by organizing related messages into threads. The company is working on a new feature that will organize message replies into connected threads.

WABetaInfo first spotted the feature in Android beta version 2.25.7.7. The new feature will create a special view showing all responses linked to an original message. Users will tap a quoted message to see every reply in a single thread instead of hunting through the entire chat.

“This feature enables users to actively engage in discussions by responding to messages shared by community administrators, making it easier to share feedback, ask questions, and contribute to ongoing conversations,” reported WABetaInfo.

The threads feature addresses a common frustration among WhatsApp users who struggle to follow multiple conversations happening at once in busy group chats. Currently, users must scroll through long chat histories to find related messages.

“Once a user replies to a quoted message, the thread will remain connected to the original message, ensuring that all responses stay organized,” WABetaInfo explained. This system looks similar to threading in workplace apps like Slack, but designed for casual conversations.

Screenshots show a full-screen pop-up displaying threaded replies, though the design might change before the final release. The feature will work in individual chats, group conversations, communities, and eventually channels.

WhatsApp hasn’t announced when regular users will get the feature. Meta typically tests new features in Android beta versions first before making them available to everyone.

While many tech platforms rush to add artificial intelligence features, WhatsApp’s focus on solving practical user problems with straightforward solutions represents a welcome shift in priorities.

For people who make plans with large groups or manage community discussions, threaded conversations will make the app much more useful. This update shows WhatsApp is focusing on improving basic user experience while competing with other messaging apps.
