Since OnePlus announced its new OxygenOS last week, fans — particularly those who already own the One — have been itching to find out what it will look like. Well, wonder no more; the short video below from OnePlus gives us a sneak peek at OxygenOS for the first time.
What I say “short” video, that’s not an understatement; it’s just 24 seconds long, and it takes four seconds the the person holding the handset to unlock it. Nevertheless, we get a full 20 seconds of OxygenOS, which actually looks almost identical to pure Android 5.0 Lollipop.
In fact, if you didn’t read the description of the YouTube video, you’d probably think this was just pure Lollipop. But that’s not exactly a bad thing; it indicates OnePlus will maintain Lollipop’s terrific Material Design visuals and make its own optimizations to apps and features only.

It also suggests that the screenshots below, which were published by GizmoChina on Monday night and claimed to be from OxygenOS, are likely fakes. Either that or they portray a user interface that isn’t baked into the OxygenOS build seen in the video above.
It’s thought OxygenOS will eventually replace CyanogenMod on the OnePlus One, but for now, it is still in its infancy. OnePlus has promised to tell us more about it on February 12, but it’s unlikely we’ll get a stable ROM release until later this year.
