GalaxyS5-Lollipop

The folks over at SamMobile have been providing timely updates about Samsung’s progress with Lollipop on the Galaxy S5 and its other devices. Today, they are back with another video showing off a new Android 5.0 based firmware from Samsung in action on the Galaxy S5.

Compared to the last Lollipop leak of the Galaxy S5, this new firmware contains relatively minor changes. This includes a new icon for Toolbox and minor UI tweaks throughout the new version of TouchWiz. However, this firmware does bring some noticeable improvement in performance, which the previous firmware lacked. A testament to this is the fact that even the Gallery app — which has traditionally always been slow on Samsung devices — is also smooth in this Lollipop firmware.

Samsung has not announced a timeframe within which it would be updating the Galaxy S5 to Lollipop. However, it looks more than likely that the rumors about the company starting the initial batch of Lollipop roll out for the S5 in December will turn out to be true, especially since at the pace it has been working on to port Lollipop to its flagship handset.
