As rumored and expected, Motorola and Verizon today revealed the latest Droid handset in their line-up — the Droid Turbo.

If you liked the Moto X but did not buy it because of a mediocre battery life and camera, the Droid Turbo might just be for you. The handset comes with a Quad HD (2560*1440) 5.2-inch Super-AMOLED display that is adored by capacitive keys below it.

The Droid Turbo features a “Ballistic Nylon or Metalized Glass Fiber reinforced with DuPont™ Kevlar® fiber” and comes with a water repellent nano coating.

Under the hood, it packs in a Snapdragon 805 processor clocked at 2.7GHz, 3GB RAM, an Adreno 420 GPU and 32/64GB of internal storage. The 21MP rear camera on the handset is capable of recording videos in 4K resolution and is aided by dual-LED flash.

The handset also comes with a beastly 3900mAh battery coupled with Qi wireless charging. Verizon states that the Turbo can last for up to 48 hours on a single charge. The handset will also come with Motorola’s Turbo charger bundled that will supply it with 8 hours of juice in only 15 mins.

On the software side, the Droid Turbo runs on a near stock build of Android 4.4.4 KitKat as seen on the Moto X. It includes all the software goodies seen on the latter including Moto Voice, Moto Actions, Moto Assist and more. It also comes with some Droid branded goodies including Droid Zap and Zap to TV. Verizon’s press release also states that the Turbo will be upgradeable to Android 5.0 Lollipop, though it fails to mention a specific timeframe.

The handset will be available to purchase from Verizon’s website on October 30th. The 32GB variant will be available in Metallic Black, Metallic Red, and Black Ballistic Nylon for $199.99 on a two-year contract or $25 per month on Verizon Edge. The 64GB version will only be available in Black Ballistic Nylon for $249.99. The carrier will also be offering Turbo owners with a free one-time screen replacement during their two-year contract.

The Droid Turbo seems to be the most feature packed Android handset to be released this year. Will you be buying it over the new Moto X?
