The launch of the Nexus 6 has been nothing short of disastrous for Google and Motorola with supply issues crippling the phablet’s availability. Now, to make matters worse for Google, it looks like the launch of the LTE variant of the Nexus 9 on T-Mobile has also been delayed.
The leaked internal memo from T-Mobile does not explain the reason behind the delay, or until how long the launch has been postponed.
Updated: Google Nexus 9 Launch Postponed (Retail, TPR, TPRi, EDPC)
Update: The launch of the Google Nexus 9 has been postponed. This article will be updated with the launch date once it is confirmed.
T-Mobile will launch the Google Nexus 9 on a date to be determined, which will be available on the web or through Ship-to (Direct Fulfillment) in HSO. This HTC device features a beautiful 8.9″ screen and a 64-bit 2.3GHz dual processor.
The Wi-Fi variant of the Nexus 9 is available through a bunch of retailers, including Google Play, Amazon, Best Buy and even from HTC’s website. However, the LTE variant of the tablet is yet to go on sale on through any other retailer. It was supposed to go on sale at the beginning of this month, but some unforeseen problem has delayed its launch.
It is very likely that Nvidia is facing some issues in getting the LTE modem to work properly with its Tegra K1 chip, or Google is facing difficulties in acquiring the rights required to distribute the appropriate binaries for the tablet. Whatever the case maybe, it is disappointing to see Google screw up the launch of Nexus devices third time in a row.
