The Dot View case for the HTC One M8 is among the most innovative accessories available for any Android device. While it can show your missed calls, voicemails, text messages and more, it is limited to only the HTC specific apps, which greatly limits its usefulness. A developer over at XDA forums has taken matters into his own hands and released an app, dubbed Venom DotView notifications, that can display notifications from all the third-party apps installed on the One M8 on the case.

The app allows users to select the list of applications which notifications they want to be displayed on the case. It also allows them to customize the default color for the built-in notifications as well as for the Weather widget.

Sadly, the app requires root access as well as a ROM that has been deodexed with signature verification disabled, which is a bummer. However, with HTC unlikely to open up the APIs for the DotView case for developers to hook into, this application is your best bet to get notifications from third-party apps on it.

You can find the download link of the DotView Notifications app here. If patience is one of your virtues, you can also wait (and hope) for an Xposed module to pop up with similar functionality.
