Motorola RAZR leak

The RAZR brand is one built upon nostalgia, and while Motorola hasn’t taken advantage of it in quite some time, it looks like that will change this year. Rumor has it that Motorola is planning on launching a foldable RAZR in 2019, and now we have our first clear look at it.

The images were initially uploaded to the Chinese social network Weibo, but subsequently deleted. However, SlashLeaks was able to snag them before they were removed and forgotten, revealing a handset with a vertically folding design — very similar to the original RAZR’s form factor. We can also see plenty of accessories allegedly included with the handset, all of which will be tucked inside a tall, prism box.

GSMArena notes in a separate report that it looks like Motorola will be including a wireless charging stand with this RAZR-branded foldable smartphone. And this design is very different from what Samsung (with the Galaxy Fold) and Huawei (with the Mate X) have developed. It will fold vertically, making it an even more portable smartphone, rather than a tablet that folds into a big phone.

One of the original reports regarding the upcoming RAZR smartphone pegs the price around $1,500, and if Motorola does plan on throwing in a wide range of accessories in the box, that could be the company trying to lessen the blow of the sticker shock.

Motorola has already confirmed it’s working on this handset, so we know it’s real. But we don’t know when it will actually launch. The smartphone company has said it will launch around the same time as all the other major folding phones, so it could be any day now.

What do you think of this design?
