While we already know what the USB Type-C cable will look like for the OnePlus 2, the company behind the upcoming flagship Android handset hasn’t been so forthcoming about the actual device just yet.
But that will finally change in July. OnePlus has announced via its forums that it will be unveiling the OnePlus 2 on July 27, beginning at 7:00 PM PT. However, there’s a bit of a surprise in store for those that plan on streaming the event while it happens.
According to OnePlus, they’re ready to embrace virtual reality (VR), and in so doing that, they’ll be unveiling the OnePlus 2 in a VR-ready environment. As a result, those that stream the event will be able to feel like they’re in the auditorium with those lucky enough to actually get an invite to the announcement. OnePlus says they’ll be able to turn around, and feel like they’re right next to the team as they unveil the next flagship.
OnePlus is also announcing its own Cardboard initiative, and says that they haven’t cut any corners in creating the headset, either. However, they do admit they are losing money on the product. According to the official landing page for OnePlus Cardboard, the headset will ship at a later, unknown date, and that it will cost $0.00.
Are you looking forward to the OnePlus 2’s unveiling?
