HTC M9e

While Samsung has ditched its plastic construction practices for its Galaxy S lineup, HTC could be readying a plastic variant of its M9+.

According to data found within China’s TENAA certification process, and surfaced by Engadget, HTC has what’s labeled as the “M9e” on the way, with only one major change from the M9+. That change is a plastic frame, which could suggest that HTC is planning on launching this particular handset outside of China (where the M9+ is solely available), and with a cheaper price tag.

As far as the other specifications go, it boasts a 5.2-inch Quad HD display, a 2.2GHz quad-core processor under the hood, and a 20MP camera on the back. There’s apparently an Ultrapixel shooter on the front, with 3GB of RAM and a microSD card slot for expandable storage. It will also boast a fingerprint reader.

As far as a launch date or region goes, that’s still up in the air at this point as the M9e is still just a rumor for now. However, even with the plastic frame, it sounds like an interesting handset.
