At the beginning of this month, the SwiftKey team rolled out a new beta that introduced a simpler and unified installer. Today, the team has released another beta version of their popular keyboard adding two of the most requested features from its users – emoji support and dedicated number row!
Google added emojis support to the stock Android keyboard with the Android 4.4 KitKat update, and since then, SwiftKey users have been religiously requesting the team to bring emojis keyboard to their favorite keyboard. With today’s beta release, the SwiftKey team is adding support for more than 500 emojis to their keyboard, along with emoji predictions.
Like on the stock Android keyboard, typing Santa or Sun on the latest SwiftKey beta will also offer you the Santa or Sun emoji, in addition to the relevant word predictions.
Keep in mind that the emojis can vary according to the Android version your device is running. On devices running KitKat, users will be greeted with colorful emojis as seen in Hangouts. On Android 4.1 or higher devices though, the emojis will be black and white in color.
The latest beta also brings the option to enable a dedicated number row on top, a very welcome addition for phablet and tablet users. The option to enable the dedicated number row can be found under Settings -> Theme & layout.
