Last month, reports about Google working on its own MVNO made the rounds of the Internet.

Today, in a Q&A session in MWC, Google’s Sundar Pichai confirmed that the company is indeed working on a mobile network of its own that it will be launching in the U.S. in the “coming months.”

The experimental mobile network from Google will seamlessly merge Wi-Fi and mobile networks to offer better network reception and call quality.

When questioned about whether this network is aimed at reducing the prices, Pichai answered that its different than that, and the company is “thinking about how WiFi and cell networks work together and how to make that seamless.”

He also said that consumers should not expect its network to compete with AT&T, T-Mobile, or other network operators in terms of size and scale. Instead, he hopes that these carriers eventually end up using Google’s technology for their own network.
