Sprint is getting its fifth 5G device from OnePlus. The carrier already offers four 5G devices in the U.S including LG V50, Samsung Galaxy S10 5G, and HTC 5G Hub. Sprint is yet to announce the availability details, pricing, and specification of the new OnePlus device.

Sprint has not explicitly mentioned the name of the OnePlus phone. However, OnePlus 7 Pro 5G is the only device from the company that supports the 5G network. Whether OnePlus will launch a new device or offer OnePlus 7 Pro 5G is yet to be seen. It is also worth noting that OnePlus is expected to launch a new flagship device later this year.

Sprint’s 5G network is available in major US cities like Kansas City, Houston, Chicago, Dallas, and Atlanta. Verizon uses mmWave technology which promises gigabit speeds while Sprint’s 5G offers a larger coverage area.

Our Take

The fifth-generation is supposedly better in every possible way as opposed to the 4G. 5G technology uses a new digital system that utilizes higher radio frequency to facilitate faster data transfer over the air. Furthermore, the new system also reduces congestion and offers lower latency.

5G is designed to address network congestion faced by 4G networks. That apart, 5G is expected to be beneficial for IoT, smart cities and other data-driven industries. The average speed on the 5G network is in the range of 200-400 mbps as opposed to 25 mbps average speed on 4G networks.
