Sony has been the only OEM that continues to roll out sub 5-inch Android devices with flagship internals. While the likes of the Xperia Z1 Compact and Z3 Compact have not particularly done well for the company, it has not deterred the Japanese OEM from working on another miniature new flagship handset: the Xperia X Compact.
As a leaked render of the handset posted by @evleaks indicates, the Xperia X Compact will feature a small sub 5-inch display, though it’s tough to make out the exact screen size of the device from the render. However, the generous bezel at the bottom of the device will make the device taller and bigger than what its tiny display size will otherwise indicate.

Leaks suggest that Sony will be unveiling two handsets: the Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact, with the latter being a smaller variant of the company’s new flagship handset.
If Sony’s latest handsets under its X series are anything to go by, the Xperia X Compact is not going to feature a water-resistant design like its predecessors. Considering how poorly Sony’s X series of handsets were received, here’s hoping that Sony does not make the same mistakes with the X Compact.
It is likely that we will see Sony unveil the Xperia X Compact at IFA in Berlin later this month.
