On September 3, Sony officially announced the Xperia Z3. It’s a follow-up of the Xperia Z2, and while it may be launching pretty soon after that predecessor, the changes are certainly noteworthy. So much so, in fact, that T-Mobile immediately followed the announcement with one of their own: The Magenta Carrier will be carrying the flagship handset in the near future.
Now, according to a new report published by PCMag, and based on documents the publication has seen, it looks like T-Mobile won’t be the only major wireless carrier in the United States to carry the upcoming handset. The report claims that Sony and Verizon have worked out a deal that will see the Xperia Z3 launch on Big Red’s network “eventually.” No firm dates have been lined up, apparently, and of course that means no pricing has been revealed at this point, either.
The report also says that the device will be called the “Xperia Z3v,” which isn’t all that surprising. What’s also not surprising, is the report that the device will boast a Verizon logo on the back. Other features include 3GB of RAM, 32GB of built-in storage, wireless charging support, and a microSD card slot for extra storage.
It’s worth noting that Sprint is also reportedly on tap to launch the Xperia Z3 at some point in the near future. If Verizon and Sprint are gearing up to launch the new flagship, then that would mean only AT&T is getting left out. It will be interesting to see if that continues to be the case.
