Sony’s Xperia Z2 Tablet, which was officially announced in late February of this year, will now officially be launched in the United States under Verizon Wireless’s carrier flag. The Big Red network says it’s an exclusive device, which means if you wanted to get your hands on Sony’s newest Android-based tablet, especially with 4G LTE-connectivity, then it looks like you’ll only have one option.
Officially announced on July 9, Verizon confirmed some suspicions that the Sony-branded Xperia Z2 Tablet would land on their network at some point this year. (Sony is also reportedly bringing their Z2 handset to the carrier at some point in the near future as well.) Now confirmed, some of the finer details have now been revealed.
Specifically, launch dates and pricing. It will sell for $599.99 without any kind of contracts in place, but you can pick up the tablet for $499.99 if you opt for a new, two-year contract. Verizon and Sony are also throwing in an extra deal for anyone who pre-orders the device, which includes a Sony Digital Noise Canceling Headset (MDRNC31EM) at no additional cost.
The Xperia Z2 Tablet will go up for pre-order beginning July 10, and it will officially go on sale July 17 both through Verizon’s online store, as well as inside physical retail locations.
As a refresher, the Xperia Z2 Tablet features a 10-inch display, and it’s running a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor under the hood. You’ll find 32GB of built-in storage (with support of 128GB microSD cards), 3GB of RAM, and a battery measured in at 6000mAh. There’s an 8.1-megapixel camera on the back, and a 2.2MP front-facing shooter. It’s running Android 4.4.2 KitKat right out of the box.
