Sony capped off the first day of CES announcements with the unveiling of a new flagship Android device for the US market. The new Xperia Z1S is a T-Mobile exclusive in the US and features a waterproof design.

The Xperia Z1S sports an IP58 water resistance rating that makes the phone waterproof. It can survive up to 30 minutes in nearly 5 feet of water without damage. Other specs include a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, a 5-inch full HD Triluminous Sony display, a whopping 20.7-megapixel camera, a 3,000 mAh battery and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

“As a waterproof smartphone complete with the best of Sony’s technology, Xperia Z1s breaks the mold of not only what you can do with a smartphone, but where you can take it,” said Sony Mobile U.S. president Ravi Nookala. “Building on the momentum of the successful partnership for the launch of Xperia Z, T-Mobile’s shared vision of delivering an uncompromised mobile experience makes them the perfect exclusive partner to bring Xperia Z1s to the U.S.”

T-Mobile will start accepting pre-orders on January 13 and will sell the Xperia Z1S starting January 22nd. The handset will cost $0 down with 24 monthly payments of $22, totaling $528 at the end of the payment plan.
