Sony XperiaXA2Plus official2

It has been several months since Sony officially introduced a new smartphone in the XA2 lineup, but now the company is back at it.

Courtesy of a YouTube video that Sony published this week, the XA2 Plus is now officially official. The handset is a variant of the XA2 that the company unveiled earlier this year, and makes a few key changes when compared to that handset. Changes that Sony bills as making the XA2 Plus “designed to entertain”.

You will be able to watch content on a 6-inch Full HD+ display, which features an aspect ratio of 18:9. That’s right, there isn’t a notch on this handset — but there are noteworthy bezels, so don’t expect an edge-to-edge display design with this mid-range smartphone. There is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor under the hood, either 3GB or 6GB of RAM, and either 32GB or 64GB of built-in storage, depending on the variant you choose.

There is a 23-megapixel camera on the back, with the ability to capture 4K video. Meanwhile, around front, there is an 8-megapixel super wide-angle lens. The Xperia XA2 Plus is running Android 8.0 Oreo, has a headphone jack, supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge with USB-C, and there is a fingerprint reader on the back.

The Xperia XA2 Plus will be available in black, silver, and green whenever it arrives on the market. Sony didn’t unveil a price tag or a release date in its official announcement today, though.
