Sony has officially announced a new software update for the Xperia T2 Ultra, a device that was released with Android 4.3 a few months after Google officially announced Android 4.4 KitKat. As is generally the deal with Sony, though, the wait is well worth it for any Xperia T2 Ultra owners, as the company has included plenty of new features to sweeten the deal.
Sony announced that the Xperia T2 Ultra, which boasts a large 6-inch display (and its dual-SIM counterpart, the Xperia T2 Ultra Dual), will begin receiving the update to Android 4.4 KitKat today. As usual, the update will be rolled out in stages, so it could take some time before the update lands on your particular handset.
With the update, Sony is including quite a few new features, plus the standard bug squashing and performance tweaks behind the scenes. Owners of the Xperia T2 Ultra that update will notice a tweaked Status Bar, and even the Quick Settings option has been refined a bit. Sony, obviously, points out the live wallpaper in the update, along with an updated user interface, that matches the home video game console, the PlayStation 4. There’s a lot more, so here’s the proverbial laundry list:
Sony also confirmed that the Xperia T2 Ultra won’t be the only device receiving a major update, as both the Xperia E1 and Xperia M2 are next on the list to see some software improvements at some point in the future. Of course, Sony’s still shy on any release dates, but owners can at least rest easy that Sony confirmed their update plans at all.
Do you own an Xperia T2 Ultra? Are you looking forward to this update?
