Less than 24 hours after teasing it, Sony has gone ahead and announced its new selfie focused smartphone — the Xperia C3. This mid-range handset has been made keeping the selfie trend in mind and comes with a 5MP wide-angle camera in the front aided by a soft LED flash.
The camera features all the usual software features that are generally found in the rear-camera of Sony phones, including a Superior Auto mode, AR effect, Portrait Retouch, Sweep Panorama and more. Below the camera and earpiece grille sits a 5.5-inch 720p HD IPS display.
Other specs of the relatively slim (7.6mm) handset include a quad-core 1.2GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage space, LTE network support and an 8MP Exmor R camera on the rear.

“The rise of selfies shows no signs of abating – its usage has increased by 17,000% since 2012 with the word officially being added to the Oxford English Dictionary in 2013. We’re excited to offer SONY’s first ‘PROselfie Smartphone’ and play a part in this global phenomenon” said Calum MacDougall, Director of Xperia Marketing at Sony Mobile Communications.
This dual-SIM phone also comes with a 2500mAh battery and Stamina mode 3.0 to ensure that it lasts a full day under heavy use. The Xperia C3 will be available in black, white and mint colors in August 2014 with China as its first launch market.
