Remember the first time you walked down the street with a Sony cassette player strapped to your belt and thinking to yourself how awesome it is to take music with you wherever you go? Life was simpler back then, and time has unfortunately made Sony an irrelevant player in the portable audio space. People use their phones now to either buy or rent digital content.
But Sony is back, or at least they’re trying to come back, with the introduction of the Walkman F886. I have no idea what kind of chip is inside this thing, but I do have a pretty detailed spec sheet to share with you: The full blown Google Play Store is installed, so yes, you’ll be able to download apps. The screen measures 4 inches diagonal and it pushes 854 x 480 pixels. You’ll find 32 GB of storage inside that can’t be expanded. And it’ll even output 192KHz/24bit audio.
Price and availability? This WiFi, Bluetooth, and NFC enabled Android 4.1 music player will hit the market for 330 Euros. Is it a good deal? For that same price, you can buy a Samsung Galaxy S II Plus and a 64 GB memory card, so … there you go.
