Sony’s Xperia Tablet Z is a beautiful product. I should know because I had one for three weeks. Unfortunately, it’s next to useless since it’s a giant Android, and I prefer smaller Android devices, but that’s another story for another day. Yesterday, Sony decided to do something that no doubt raised a few eyebrows. They announced the Tablet Z Kitchen Edition. What exactly makes it different than the regular Tablet Z? The Kitchen Edition comes with a stand, a wireless thermometer, and is “preloaded with useful food apps, recipes, and videos.”

How much does it cost and when can you buy it? $650, ships next Monday, and as far as I can tell it’s US only, but hey, you never know, it might come to your respective country.

The real question, however, is should you buy one? Again, Android tablets are … you know how I feel about them. If you have $200 to spend on a tablet, then you’re obviously going to go Android. If on the other hand you have $650 to spend on a tablet, then you should spend $500 on an iPad and then another $100 on the iGrill thermometer (above) that Sony bundles with their Kitchen Edition tablet.

Then spend the remaining $50 on some kick-ass apps or higher quality ingredients for dinner.
