When HTC released the One (M8) earlier this year with Sense 6.0, it promised to bring its latest software innovation to the previous generation One as well. Now, it has hardly been a month since the One (M8) has been on sale and HTC has started rolling out the first batch of updates that brings Sense 6.0 to the M8’s predecessor.
The 668MB hefty update has gradually started rolling out to One (M7) owners in Canada with quite a lot of news goodies. This includes a transparent status bar that changes color depending on the application opened and the theme being used, an enhanced BlinkFeed with smoother scrolling and more sources, the ability to customise the font being used and a completely new Camera, Gallery and Music app.
Surprisingly, the change-log also mentions the inclusion of Extreme Power Saving mode in this update. It is too early to say if this is exactly the same mode that HTC has included on the new One (M8), but if it is, its quite commendable that the company decided to bring this feature to its last year’s flagship handset as well. Don’t get your hopes high about Motion Launch being present as well though, since it requires a special hardware that the One (M7) lacks.
The update is available for unlocked as well as carrier variants of One from TELUS, Rogers and Bell. Do keep in mind that since this is a phased roll-out, it might not show up immediately on your phone.
