Last year, the Moto X was among the first Android handsets to receive the update to Android 4.4 KitKat. If the leaked screenshots of the new Moto X running Lollipop are to be believed, it looks like Motorola is all set to repeat its last year’s speedy performance.
The images of the new Moto X running Lollipop were obtained by the folks over at Phandroid. The screenshots show that while Motorola has left the Material Design in Android 5.0 Lollipop largely untouched, it is still using the mobile network bar icons from KitKat. The company had done something similar last year with the KitKat update for the 2013 Moto X as well but had updated the icon at a later point via an OTA.
Even though Google has introduced support for native hotword detection and a feature akin to Moto Display in Lollipop, Motorola is still sticking with its Moto Voice and Moto Display apps. While the camera app remains the same visually in the test Lollipop firmware, it includes one new feature: a timer.
Sadly, Phandroid’s source is unable to provide them with a concrete release date for the Android 5.0 update for the Moto X but knowing Motorola, the update should go live within a few days of the previous generation Nexus devices getting the update.
