Samsung has had its own lineup of smartwatches for quite some time now, and the company has opted to avoid Google’s own smartwatch platform, Android Wear, over the years.

But it looks like a few key changes will be coming down the line. We already know that Android Wear is now known as Wear OS, and it looks like Samsung may be ready to adopt the smartwatch platform for its own devices now, too. According to a tweet detailing Samsung’s upcoming smartwatch plans from Ice Universe, Samsung will be using Wear OS for its next device, and there will be a branding change, too.

The tweet was sent out on Friday, and includes a few key details regarding the rumored smartwatch. First and foremost, that the device won’t be called the Gear S4, as was rumored earlier. And, as mentioned above, it won’t be using Samsung’s proprietary Tizen OS, but instead opt for Google’s Wear OS. The smartwatch will also feature a “new UX interaction”, and PLP package design to fit smaller components in the frame.

The Gear Watch will also reportedly boast a 470mAh battery, and it will support blood pressure measurement. Unfortunately, while that’s certainly a lot to go with right now, the tweet did not include any additional information. We don’t know when the smartwatch will be unveiled, or how much it will cost, or even a launch date.

But, all of that may get announced in just a couple of months, so we might not have long to wait.
