Samsung Smart Switch

Samsung today rolled out a complete revamp of its Smart Switch website highlight how the app makes it easier for users to transfer content from an existing smartphone to their new Galaxy device. The app is even compatible with the iPhone and other Android devices.

Smart Switch will help one to import their contacts, photos, messages, and other important data from their iPhone or any other Android device to their Galaxy S8 or any other Galaxy device.

The transfer process can take place wirelessly, though former iPhone users will have to connect their phone to their Galaxy S8 or any other Galaxy device using a wire to initiate the transfer process. The wired process also works with other Android devices, with Samsung bundling a Smart Switch adapter with certain Galaxy devices to facilitate the transfer process.

Samsung’s Smart Switch app works with iOS, Android, Windows Mobile, or BlackBerry OS running devices. The company says the app will work with Android devices as old as the Galaxy S2 and running at least Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

In addition, the companion Smart Switch PC app makes it easier for Galaxy owners to create a complete backup of their device.

On the Samsung Galaxy S8, Smart Switch will also take advantage of Samsung Knox to ensure that the content is totally secure during the transfer process.

Interestingly, the move from Samsung comes just a month after Apple revamped its Switch website that lures Android users into switching to an iPhone.
