Samsung Galaxy S7 leak image

Samsung has not yet confirmed that it plans on unveiling the Galaxy S7 at Mobile World Congress next month, but leaks and rumors have consistently pointed to the Korean giant announcing its much-anticipated flagship in Barcelona next month.

Almost confirming Samsung’s intention is @evleaks, who has posted the alleged invite image from Samsung on Twitter. The image teases the launch of #TheNextGalaxy on February 21 — right on the first day of MWC — with the box edges glowing in a ‘7’ shape giving another subtle hint at the unveiling of the Galaxy S7 at the Unpacked event.

Leaks also point to Samsung launching the Galaxy S7 in Europe and the United States on March 11 — just 19 days after its unveiling.

In terms of design, the Galaxy S7 is expected to sport minor changes compared to its predecessor. Under the hood though, it is going to be a major upgrade and will pack in a Snapdragon 820 chipset. Certain variants of the handset are also expected to come with an Exynos 8890 chipset. Other specs of the handset include 4GB of RAM, 32/64GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, a 12MP rear camera with an f/1.7 aperture and bigger individual pixels for better low-light performance, and fast charging.

Samsung will also launch the Galaxy S7 edge alongside the Galaxy S7 that will pack the same internals as its ‘flat’ sibling, but come with a larger 5.5-inch curved display.
