Now that 2016 is right around the corner, and we’re nearing a launch window for Samsung’s upcoming flagship(s), the Rumor Mill is in full swing.
It’s been over a month since we last heard a rumor directly revolving around the display size of one of Samsung’s new, and still unannounced, handsets. In November it was rumored that the Galaxy S7 edge would feature a 5.7-inch curved screen, but now a new report suggests that might not be the case after all. Indeed, according to ETNews, the Galaxy S7 edge will actually boast a 5.5-inch screen. That’s a bit smaller than the previous rumor, but it is still bigger than the Galaxy S6 edge.
Moreover, the Galaxy S7 will reportedly be getting a display size increase as well, jumping up to 5.2 inches — up from the 5.1-inch screen on the Galaxy S6.
The report also states that Samsung will debut both handsets in February of 2016.
Samsung going bigger with both devices is an interesting move. It will be interesting to see if the manufacturer releases a Galaxy S7 edge+, considering the S7 edge’s rumored bump in screen real estate, or if this means the edge+ isn’t seeing a new model in 2016.
