Samsung’s AI-powered virtual assistant, Bixby, is going to be among the key features of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus. Samsung will be taking on the likes of Google Assistant and Apple’s Siri with Bixby, and the company is leaving no stone unturned in making its virtual assistant is up to the mark.
A new report now details that Samsung will be launching Bixby with support for 7 to 8 languages. This includes Korean and Chinese, which should help Samsung entice more consumers in the respective markets to buy the Galaxy S8 over any other Android device or the iPhone. The number of supported languages is also more than Google Assistant, which currently only works with English, Hindi, Portuguese, Brazillian, and German languages.
Samsung also plans on bringing Bixby to more of its devices, including its mid-range smartphones and home appliances like TVs and refrigerators. Samsung’s Bixby virtual assistant is based on the technology from a startup called Viv which the Korean company acquired from a startup called Viv.
The report also adds credence to rumors that Samsung plans on unveiling the Galaxy S8 on March 299, with the device being available in most markets by April 20.
